Climate threatens Chinas food supply
PLUMMETING water levels in lakes and rivers in China are raising the possibility of a drought which could threaten the countrys ability to feed its 1.2bn people.
The Guardian reports on the drought and fears that China may run short of food in coming months.
China still has a grain surplus, but depends on irrigated land for 70% of its cereal production.
