UK farming and countryside leaders will today meet Prime Minister Tony Blair to discuss the crisis facing rural communities.

The talks were set up after Sir David Naish, former National Farmers Union president, wrote to Mr Blair last month requesting a meeting.

Attendees at the meeting will include current NFU president Ben Gill, Country Landowners Association president Ian MacNicol, NFU Wales chairman Hugh Richards, National Farmers Union of Scotland acting presidents George Lyon and Stewart Whitford, Ulster Farmers Union president Walter Elliott, Farmers Union of Wales president Bob Parry, and Northern Ireland Agricultural Producers Association.
