Fischler bans sheep help
FRANZ FISCHLER, European agricultural commissioner, insisted yesterday that a UK rescue plan for the sheep industry could not go ahead under European Union rules.
Donald Dewar, Scotlands first minister, and Ross Finnie, Scottish rural affairs minister, met Fischler in Brussels to highlight the crisis in the industry.
