Fluke still big concern
SEVERE fluke problems are still being found in the UK.
Despite being uncommon during winter, VLA Starcrosss Brian Preece warns sheep producers to be vigilant and watch for sheep losing weight. He says this is particularly the case in the south west, where flooding and mild temperatures have led to an expanding snail population, with sheep still picking up fluke in early December.
He suggests producers with very wet properties and signs of sheep losing weight discuss fluke control with their vet. *
