SMALL to medium-sized businesses can claim up to 6000 to upgrade their lighting and make it more energy efficient.

The government-supported initiative, called Lightswitch, is managed by the Energy Saving Trust, in partnership with the industry.

Many small businesses spend up to 30% of their electricity bill on lighting, and replacing old inefficient lighting with new energy-efficient lights will save money in the long term, reducing both energy bills and maintenance costs, says Lightswitch.

Up to 3000 is available for replacement costs or an installation survey, with another 3000 on offer for system controls, up to 50% of the capital cost.

For more information call the Lightswitch helpline on 08705 133538, or log on to www.lightswitch.co.uk.
