Man, 70, killed in farm accident

An investigation is under way over the death of a 70-year-old man on a farm in Northern Ireland.

The man died after an accident at a farm in Silverbridge, south Armagh on Thursday afternoon (25 August).

He was named locally as Gene Murphy.

It is believed the accident involved a tractor.

The Health and Safety Executive in Northern Ireland (HSENI) said it was aware of the fatality.

A spokeswoman said: “HSENI is aware of the death of a farmer in the Silverbridge area of County Armagh and is investigating the circumstances.

“Our thoughts are with the family involved at this very difficult time.”
