Pig farmers rebate

NEARLY 2500 producers who were full members of Farm Assured British Pigs (FAB Pigs) will receive a £105 rebate when they renew their subscription to the new ABM Assured British Pigs scheme this year.

Assurance scheme

The move, which will be welcomed by cash-strapped pig farmers, follows the incorporation of the farm assurance scheme into the Assured British Meat scheme.

This released funds, which has enabled the annual subscription for farmers to be reduced to between £70 and £120, depending on herd size.

The rebate is available to all former members of FAB Pigs – who automatically became members of ABP when the scheme was incorporated on Sept 30 1999 – when they renew their subscription without a lapse in membership.

"We are pleased to be able to ensure the continuity of one single industry-standard at a time when producers are under prolonged and extreme financial pressure," said FAB Pigs chairman John Hughes. &#42
