Scientists look at sugar diet

SCIENTISTS from the Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research have won a £200,000 grant to study how sugars in grasses can improve the diet of cattle and sheep. The three-year project, funded by the biotechnology and biological sciences research council, will be carried out at IGERs Aberystwyth site and will compare populations of perennial ryegrass which show big differences in both sugar content and feed quality.n
