Take-all protection
TAKE-ALL seed treatment could be available for autumn 1999.
Based on a new triazole, fluquinconazole, the treatment gives more than 50% control of take-all, resulting in yield rises of over 1t/ha (0.4t/acre), says AgrEvos John Burgess.
"It is totally crop-safe. There are no delays in emergence and no phytotoxicity with this triazole. We can load the seed with a high dose of chemical, equivalent to a full foliar application," he says.
"The persistency of foliar control is such that it could substantially affect the timing of T1 fungicides. In our own and some independent work it has lasted right up to flag leaf." *
