Top Shorthorn breeder dies, aged 81

MARY DURNO, a leading breeder of Shorthorn cattle, has died aged 81.

She supervised the Uppermill herd for more than 50 years. Now the stock has spread to most beef producing countries in the world.

She became president of the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland in 1983.
