WTO praises USA for trade policies
THE USA has come out with flying colours from the World Trade Organisation (WTO) for its liberal trade policies despite a few instances of restriction in the agricultural sector.
The WTO praises the USA for resisting “by and large” protectionist pressures in the face of a huge current-account deficit.
It warns that this stance might become more difficult if the economy turns down.
The USA has been criticised for recent anti-dumping, anti-subsidy action on lamb.
It has also been under attack for imposing high tariffs on farm goods exported by developing countries.
