Improving YAS
THE YORKSHIRE Agricultural Society has unveiled a 10m plan to upgrade and improve its headquarters in Harrogate, North Yorks.
A new regional agricultural centre, including a farm shop and caf, will be built on the site, which is also the venue for the annual Great Yorkshire Show. Other plans involve enlarging the exhibition hall, building a new road and roundabout near the showground entrance, and replacing an accommodation block with a hotel.
YAS chief executive Nigel Pulling said it would take five years to finish the project.
“Over the last decade we have spent 12m on upgrading the site, but that programme has been completed. These plans are a natural next step, and will enable us to promote agriculture more effectively.”
