Consumer issues to the fore at Pig and Poultry LIVE 2011

Understanding more about consumer perceptions, how their behaviour may be influenced and how the industry should respond will be the key theme at the 2011 Pig & Poultry LIVE event.
This innovative conference-style event, organised by the Royal Agricultural Society of England in partnership with feed company ABN, will take place on Wednesday 11 May 2011, at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire.
First launched in 2009, the event brings together the whole supply chain to discuss the big issues for both industries. In the morning headline debate, a high profile panel including NFU president Peter Kendall and chaired by BBC farming correspondent Adam Henson, will discuss how consumer perceptions are shaping our industry.
Voting technology will give the audience the chance to have their say and, with input from shoppers, the debate is certain to give delegates food for thought.
After lunch, a series of more technical workshops will focus on subjects that are topical for each sector, including raw material risk management, critical for managing feed costs.
The day will conclude with a look at the marketing challenge for British pig and poultrymeat, and eggs, with the aim of identifying some key marketing actions for the sectors.
“Pig and Poultry LIVE 2011 is a unique event for producers and the industry, bringing people together to share opinions and gain a valuable insight into the whole supply chain,” says Angela Booth of event partners ABN. “It is a great chance to get involved and directly influence how we collectively respond to the big challenges.”
Delegate places will be open to book via the website in February. A limited number of exhibiting packages will shortly be available. For more information please visit www.pigandpoultry.org.uk or call 02476 858 298.
