The 16ha (40 acres) cut so far was at just below 20% moisture and Mr Crow had crimped it and treated with acid for his own animal feed. The remaining 16ha (40 acres) would be dried and sold once in.
“We’ve just had two days of heavy rain – we’ve still got silage to cut and hay to make – it’s all building up now,” he said.
Accord and Premiere potatoes had yielded better than average, as had the 10ha (25 acres) of winter barley at just over 7.4t/ha (3t/acre) on light land.
The 121ha (300 acres) of feed wheat and the beans all looked well. “The concern is that everything looks good – it’s whether we’ll be able to get it in.”
