BBC2’s Harvest gets thumbs-up from farmers

A new harvest programme on BBC2 has received widespread approval from farmers, who have praised the broadcaster for the credibility of the show.

The first episode of the three-part Harvest series starred Lincolnshire potato farmer Andrew Burgess and followed the ups and downs of growing and harvesting this year’s crop. It also explored the science and cutting-edge technology that gets vegetables from the field to the plate.

During the hour-long episode scores of farmers took to social media to praise the BBC’s portrayal. Here are a selection of their comments:

 

In the next episode, presenters Gregg Wallace and Philippa Forrester visit farmer Tom Bradshaw at the start of his wheat harvest. Watch Cereals: The Seeds of Life tonight (12 September) at 8pm on BBC2.
