Better than expected in Suffolk
Wheat harvest started yesterday at 16% moisture for Gerald Godfrey on Great Common Farm, Suffolk.
Yields of 8.75t/ha on the worst wheat fields were better than expected, so he hopes for 10t/ha on the good fields. Quality of Claire, Einstein and Consort were very good and he said they had not been damaged by the weather.
He added: “Thankfully the ground conditions are much better than last year so hopefully the yields will be better.”
