The 100ha (250 acres) cut so far had averaged about 8.2t/ha (3.3t/acre) – slightly above average and on the poorer fields. All was going for malting, leaving just over 100ha (250 acres) to cut.
The 300ha (740 acres) of oilseed rape looked very well, as did the 500ha (1235 acres) of winter wheat. “The wheats look excellent but are still two weeks away at least,” said Mr Tuer.
After that would come 120ha (296 acres) of Oxbridge spring barley on an ex-organic farm, which was suffering from weeds, but looked fairly well, he added.
