Cereals 2010: Low dose IPU effectiveness questioned

A low-dose isoproturon-containing product may not contain enough active ingredient to control its target weeds, Bayer‘s Tim Holt suggested.

Responding to news that Rotam was developing a new low-dose IPU product containing around 70% less of the active, he questioned whether it would be effective.

“I suspect it will have little grassweed activity.”

All IPU products were removed from market at the end of last season after none of the formulations met the requirements of Chemicals Regulation Directorate’s water model. “But there is nothing to stop companies submitting products that could, although I think it will have to be a good package to get IPU back.”
