Cheaper harvest in Leicestershire
One hundred hectares of Einstein yielded “reasonably well” for Robert Tullis in Lutterworth, Leicestershire, and he said there had been no disappointing results.
Most cut at 10t/ha, although he said the earlier sown crops yielded better than the later sown.
Quality has generally been good, with protein varying between 12.5 – 15.5%, Hagbergs 180 – 300 and bushel weight at 79kg/hl. He said results are similar to their long term average, despite the wet autumn meaning some crops did not have the best start.
Harvest finished a week to 10 days earlier than last year, and he said it had been a lot cheaper having saved money on drying costs.
