Combine starts on rape in Lincs
The combine started rolling last night (24 July) at Adrian Howell’s farm in Sutton Bridge, Lincs, cutting Astrid oilseed rape at 7% moisture.
“It is 11% moisture today but we’re pressing on because it talks of rain,” he said. “Quality looks promising and yield is very pleasing at 4.5t/ha (1.8t/acre).” With 12ha (30 acres) cut yesterday Mr Howell had 188ha (464 acres) to go.
After that would come the 162ha (400 acres) of Kabuki marrowfat peas, which looked very promising, he said.
