As grassweed control, particularly blackgrass, gets ever more challenging, Dow AgroSciences will be urging visitors to Cereals 2011 to look at making full use of rotations to tackle the headache weeds.

“There is general consensus in key arable areas that achieving adequate control of the challenging grassweeds in winter cereals is getting ever more difficult,” said Dow AgroSciences weed control expert, Stuart Jackson. “That is why we believe it is important to plan to tackle these weeds across the rotation using the full range of chemical and cultural options to keep blackgrass populations in check.

“Oilseed rape or winter field beans allow growers to use Kerb Flo, based on propyzamide, which has long been established as a dependable way to control blackgrass and other harmful grassweeds. Despite being on the market for many years, it remains effective against blackgrass, including those populations with resistance to products used in cereal crops.”

The Dow AgroSciences stand (F708) includes a demonstration of how the company’s products, including Kerb Flo and the new pyroxsulam-based products Broadway Sunrise and Broadway Star, can be used across whole arable rotations to best effect.
