Early fears for Hagbergs in Herts
Paul Christian in Hertfordshire was concerned the Soissons milling wheat Hagberg could be spoiling from the rain.
“We normally start cutting early, but there’s been so many poor days this week,” he said. However he suggested things were looking favourable this year.
Last year the wheat made full spec and did very well at 8.5t/ha, however he wanted to make no assumptions for this year.
Astrid and Escort yielded greater than last year, but he was surprised because he suggested it did not look as though the yields would be high.
