Yorkshire farmer Andrew Coster was very pleased with his winter barley harvest in Ripon.

Fifty four hectares of Pearl and Colossus averaged 9t/ha which looked of a good quality. He said: “This is up on last year. We weren’t expecting it.”

Mr Coster thought things would be alright for harvest this year, with the heavy land holding the moisture and so withstanding the drought.
