Farmers invited to join French-inspired travel guide

A successful French scheme that encourages motor home tourists to stock up on farm produce has launched in the UK.
“Brit Stops” was inspired by “France Passion” – a French travel scheme which allows motor home owners to park on a member farm for free for up to 24 hours.
In France the scheme has been running for 18 years and boasts 1500 participating farms and vineyards, and 100,000 members. Up to 93% of members ultimately buy farm produce from their hosts during their stay.
Steve Clark, founder of Brit Stops, says: “After experiencing the hospitality of French farms and vineyards through France Passion in my own motor home, it was clear that the aims of the French scheme would transfer directly to the UK.
“Motor home tourists are always on the lookout for the off-the-beaten-track experience where they can get a true taste of local life. Bringing these tourists (with their on-board larders and fridges to fill) together with farmers with food to sell, is clearly mutually beneficial.”
Entry in the Brit Stops guide is completely free of charge for participating farms. The farm’s address, directions, and a list of produce available will be published in the guide, which will be marketed through specialist motor home magazines, websites and forums across the UK and Europe.

* A parking space for a motor home is all that is required – no other facilities need to be provided
