Gleadell offers biofuel contract
GLEADELL AGRICULTURE has launched a new contract for oilseed rape destined to be used as bio-diesel.
Growers will receive the same price as they would for commercial rapeseed, and can price it up whenever they want, with movement in Aug / Sept 2005.
They will receive an additional EU payment of €45/ha (£12/acre) before modulation for producing an energy crop, although Gleadell will take half of this to cover processing and contractual fees.
“It is rare that one can get something for nothing these days,” said managing director Jon Duffy.
“But with the energy contract this is certainly the case. Last year the bulk of the EU money went to our neighbours on the continent.
“We‘re pleased to be in a position to now enable the UK grower to take a slice of the pie.”
