Good harvest underway in Somerset

Agronomist Tim Henderson from Somerset said harvest has only really just got started in the area after 10 days of rain.

He reported most farmers were finishing winter barley and just getting into oilseed rape.

He thought winter barley varieties Carat and Antonia had done particularly well this year with the higher yields and better quality.

Astrid Oilseed rape appeared to be the highest yielding variety, however he had not seen much of other varieties in the area.
