“The lighter land farms have definitely been affected by the lack of rain,” said John Goodchild in Cambridgeshire.

The Winner oilseed rape yielded 3.3t/ha on the lighter land, however the heavier land yielded 4t/ha which he was “pleased” with.

He was also pleased with the crop coming in at 7.8% moisture, and “ripe with not too many red seeds”.

He added: “The wheats have hung on well and look better than they ought to.”
