HGCA workshops on offer at Precision Farming Event

The Precision Farming Event, held on Wednesday 4 March at the East of England Showground near Peterborough, will host the last in the series of Level 1 HGCA Be Precise workshops, before the Level 2 workshops begin later in the year.

In addition to the existing seminars, the ‘Be Precise’ workshop will provide an introduction to those looking at new technology, according to organiser Andrew Newbold from Fusion Events. The HGCA has put these workshops on to illustrate how precision farming technologies can be used to increase profitability and deliver significant environmental benefits.

“Over the years the Precision Farming Event has developed along with the equipment. But it is important to stress that while the very latest ‘high tech’ devices, controllers and software will be on display, there is also a wide range of entry-level equipment specifically designed for those looking to make the first moves into guidance, steering and basic machine control,” he adds.

“Bringing the last Level 1 Workshops to the Precision Farming Event, before the Level 2 workshops begin after the show, provides another opportunity to help farmers make informed decisions about the most appropriate techniques for their farms,” says Ian Beecher-Jones, project facilitator. “There is also the added advantage of being able to talk directly to suppliers and companies at the same time.”

As well as a full seminar programme, the Precision Farming Event is the only show of its kind that brings together practical advice, advanced technology and technical product demonstrations. Alongside displays of equipment from all the main suppliers in the showground’s new purpose-built atrium, an outdoor demonstration area allows visitors to see and experience equipment at work.
