Komando oilseed rape yielded well at Higher Clapton Farm

Komando oilseed rape yielded well at Higher Clapton Farm, Wincanton, Wilts, averaging 3.8t/ha (1.5t/acre).

Farm manager and independent agronomist Chris Batchelor said the 39ha (96 acres) of Komando was very even, which made it easier to harvest.

He expected to start his Gerald winter oats next week (w/c 11 August), with the Alchemy, Gatsby and Solstice winter wheat still at least 10 days away. “I think the prospects look quite good,” he said.

However, fusarium and septoria were showing in a number of crops around the area, he added.

Crop: Oilseed rape
Area: 39ha (96 acres)
Variety: Komando
Yield: 3.8t/ha (1.5t/acre)

 Syngenta

Duxford winter wheat is an HGCA Recommended List 2008/09 variety with very high UK treated yields and the top score for resistance to lodging with PGR. Combined with an unbeaten second wheat yield and a balanced disease resistance profile, this new variety from Syngenta Seeds will help UK growers rise to the challenge of producing more grain profitably.
