Moisture finally going down
“The moisture levels are at an acceptable level now. Hopefully later today (Sept 2) they‘ll be down to 15%.”
Mr Godfrey has the problem that his drier will only dry crops from 17% moisture.
He has had difficulties with sprouting in some of the crop, but is not concerned as he separates the grain and uses it as feed for the livestock on his farm.
“The ground conditions are letting people down. With the prices of grain being so low there is little money to re-invest especially in things like ground drainage.”
So far he has harvested 40ha (100 acres) of wheat consisting of Claire and Robigus. Average yields have been about 8.65 t/ha (3.5 t/acre).
