Oats are ready but no-go in W Sussex

Rain had stopped play for Tim Lock at Houghton Farm in West Sussex. “It is a bit wet and has rained every day this week,” he said.

Mr Lock was pleased with Recital oilseed rape which yielded 4t/ha, up on last year’s 3.7t/ha.

He was also pleased that the crop came in dry on the combine.

He added: “The oats are ready to cut but it’s too wet to cut at the moment.”
