Oilseed rape yield down in Durham

Michael Manners in Darlington, Durham, said his Maplus oilseed rape hadn’t yielded terribly well at 3.5t/ha.

Rain had brought the yields down slightly compared to normal, but quality looked alright. He said seeds may have been slightly small, possibly due to the dry weather.

Two inches of rain last weekend (July 30-31) and very wet drilling weather lat autumn could have also affected the quality.

Mr Manners said he was a bit more hopeful for the wheat as it “looks promising at the moment”.
