OSR shedding concerns in Worcs

Harvest was going very slowly for Robert Anscome in Worcestershire having cut a field of Pearl winter barley at 6.5t/ha.

He was disappointed with the yield, but pleased it went for malting with very good bushel weight and the nitrogen levels “where they should be”.

It has rained ever since he sprayed off the oilseed rape over a week ago, and he said the crop was looking very average. “It’s ok, not very tall but it’s even all over.”

He added there had been terrible crop shedding in the area for those who sprayed their crops early, so he was glad to have sprayed his late.
