Rapeseed values on the slide

RAPESEED VALUES have fallen this week (w/e Jan 21) on the back of weakening demand from biodiesel producers and a slow-down in Chicago soya futures.

Prices were down £5-£10/t to about £122/t on Thursday (Jan 19).

Glencore Grain‘s Nick Oakhill said the UK still had a potentially exportable surplus of about 100,000t, but was not yet export competitive.

“Coupled with this, the American soya complex has fallen back £9/t since Jan 4,” he added.
