Ringside at Holsworthy Market, Devon

Monday’s (18 November) TB-restricted sale saw 154 store cattle meet strong demand, with several bunches of forward stores exceeding the £1,000 mark.

A 23 month-old British Blue steer took the day’s top price of £1,120, with a pair of 19 month-old steers from the same farm reaching £1,000 apiece. A consignment of 23 month-old Limousin steers topped at £930, with a British Blue taking the top heifer price of £948.

Younger cattle also saw plenty of trade, with the best 12 month-old Aberdeen Angus steers reaching £678, said auctioneer David Kivell. “Plenty of buyers around the ring saw a useful lift in the trade, with many stonger cattle reaching prices on par with the regular Wednesday sales.”
