South: Hindsight is a wonderful thing

After 110mm (4.3in) of rain on 20 July, Nigel Horne was not expecting a speedy start on his winter barley this week, and he expected his oilseed rape to be fit about the same time.

“With hindsight I probably should have sprayed the barley off,” he said.
