So far he had cut 80ha (200 acres) of Carat winter barley at 8t/ha (3.25t/acre), and 16ha (40 acres) of Tipple spring barley at 5.6t/ha (2.25t/acre) on light land.

The 80ha (200 acres) of Castille oilseed rape had averaged 3t/ha (1.25t/acre).

Mr Betts was now waiting for his Einstein winter wheat at Thornham Farms to ripen. “If we get a dry spell next week we’ll be straight into it.”

 Syngenta

Duxford winter wheat is an HGCA Recommended List 2008/09 variety with very high UK treated yields and the top score for resistance to lodging with PGR. Combined with an unbeaten second wheat yield and a balanced disease resistance profile, this new variety from Syngenta Seeds will help UK growers rise to the challenge of producing more grain profitably.
