Trailer firm Marston Agricultural Services goes into administration

Grantham trailer maker Marston Agricultural Services has gone into administration.

The family-owned business, which manufactures agricultural trailers, has been trading from Marston, near Grantham, for more than 60 years. More than 20 employees have been made redundant.

According to joint administrators Cooper Parry, the company had been hit by challenging economic conditions which have had a significant impact on trading.

The company was started by Ernest Green in the 1950s and since then has designed and developed agricultural trailers to meet the specific needs of its clients. The firm has an in-house design team and, although focused on the UK market, had been trading further afield including in Africa, Asia and New Zealand.

Turnover for the year to 30 September is about £4m and the company employed about 35 staff.
