£1.1m investment for Carlisle market

Borderway livestock market in Carlisle is to get a £1.1m makeover, its owner H&H Group has announced.

The improvements include a new exhibition hall with viewing gallery to replace the existing 35 year-old premises and increase the area by 50% to 900m2. The restaurant will also be refurbished and expanded, while additional office space will be built to accommodate the company’s pedigree department and insurance brokers.

Construction is due to start later this month and it is hoped to be complete by the end of September in time for the autumn sales.

“This investment demonstrates our commitment to our customers following the company’s recent announcement of its interim results showing record profits and reflecting strong performance of each of the group’s eight businesses,” H&H Group chief executive, Brian Richardson said.
