Trapped farmer cut free from baler after six-hour ordeal

A Shropshire farmer was cut free from a hay baler by firefighters after being trapped for more than six hours inside the machine in a terrifying farm accident.
The farmer, aged in his 60s, trapped his legs in the baler and suffered a cardiac arrest as he was freed.
Paramedics managed to revive him at the scene and he was taken to hospital for further treatment.

The farmer suffered serious crush injuries in the incident and medics described his condition as “very serious” and “life-changing”.
The drama unfolded after emergency services were called to Lower Wood, Church Stretton, at around 7.30pm on Saturday (26 September).
A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Fire control received a call reporting a person trapped in a machine in Church Stretton.
“One fire engine was sent from Church Stretton and crews used air bags and cutting equipment to free the man, who was trapped in a hay baler.
“The casualty was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital.”
The farmer was treated in the major trauma centre at New Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
