Co-op premium cut angers milk producers
Milk producers supplying the Co-operative Food through its dedicated Co-operative Dairy Group have condemned a 0.7p/litre cut to their variable premium from 1 June, which takes the bonus down to 0.65p/litre.
The bonus was raised to 1.35p/litre from 22 April to compensate for the standard litre price not showing signs of movement, said Ed Reaney, category buyer in the dairy team at The Co-operative Food.
However, more recently the standard litre price had improved and at Muller Wiseman, through which The Co-operative Food is supplied, the standard litre price will rise by 1p/litre from 1 June. The Co-operative Food argues that its total price from 1 June at 32.15p/litre is one of the best in the market.
