Commercial farms to set Lincolnshire market alight

Two commercial arable farms on grade 1 and 2 land in the Lincolnshire Fens are the first significant sales in the county this year.

The two are farmed as one unit but are offered separately by Brown & Co. Skirmore House Farm and Dairy House Farm are being sold by the diverse Staffordshire-based Leavesley Group to raise capital for alternative investments.

“These are two highly productive no-nonsense farms that tick all the boxes for what people are after,” said Charlie Bryant of Brown & Co.

The larger of the two – Skirmore House Farm, Friskney – has 176ha (435 acres) of grade 1 and 2 land on several soil types, but mainly silty clay loam and silt loam. This farm has a guide price of ÂŁ3.515m and includes a 2,000t grain store and a house which is subject to a protected tenancy.

Dairy House Farm, Midville, has no house but offers almost 137ha (338 acres) of grade 2 land and a general purpose store, with a guide price of ÂŁ2.5m. Soils here are humose silty clay loams, mainly Salop and Downholland 2.

Cropping across both farms has most recently been combinable crops but parts of the farms have also grown root crops.

“It will be interesting to see what transpires as both farms are situated in parishes where recent activity has displayed significant demand amongst the local farming communities as well as outside investors,” said Mr Bryant. (Brown & Co 01775 722 321)
