Dairy Farmers of Britain announces milk price increase

Dairy Farmers of Britain has announced an increase of 1.5p/litre for all its supplier members from 1 December 2007.

The rise takes the price for industry standard litres for the majority of its members to at least 25p/litre before seasonality.

Seasonality bonuses push members’ additional litres to between 32p/litre and 39p/litre.

“We are continuing to work as hard as we can with our customers”

Matt Sheehan, DFoB director of membership, said: “We would like to have made this increase effective from November, but this is the earliest opportunity our trading commitments allow us to reap the sustainable raw milk price benefits of our continuing customer re-negotiations.

“Although it meets our previously-announced base price expectation for the year end, we are continuing to work as hard as we can with our customers to secure further sustainable increases from the market so we can provide them to our members as soon as possible.”
