Devon poultry units offer established businesses

Two free-range poultry farms in Devon are being launched this week. New Park Farm, at Tiverton, is on the edge of Exmoor National Park, with accommodation for about 10,170 free-range birds.
This is described as a well-equipped free-range holding with a three-bedroom detached farmhouse, modern poultry buildings and just under 20 acres. There is also a stable yard with five stables, tack room and storage.
The two poultry buildings are serviced by a recently installed semi-automated Prizen egg packer and stacker which can process up to 4,000 eggs an hour and an egg supply contract is available.
The land is currently mainly used for sheep and New Park Farm is on the market with a guide price of ÂŁ785,000.
The second unit is Thresher’s Barn near Umberleigh, a profitable free-range broiler unit with about 17 acres of south-facing pasture land. This unit has capacity for 5,750 birds, also with a supply contract.
Thresher’s Barn is on the market with a guide price of ÂŁ200,000. (Chesterton Humberts 01823 331 234)
