Fertiliser and fuel prices up in IPM survey

Fertiliser and fuel prices both firmed last month, according to the latest Farmers Weekly/NFU Inputs Price Monitor.

Ammonium nitrate prices averaged ÂŁ255/t in October, up ÂŁ25/t from the previous month, while red and white diesel prices rose slightly to average 52p/litre and 99p/litre respectively.

NFU regulatory affairs adviser Peter Garbutt said: “Domestic ammonium nitrate is trading well above this level, illustrating how quickly the market has moved. As we approach the end of the year though, it appears that this pace is easing and the market will settle short of ÂŁ300/t over Christmas.”

Glyphosate prices were mostly around ÂŁ2.11/litre, although lower prices of nearer ÂŁ2/litre were achieved for those buying in bulk.
