FFA demands flexibility

FARMERS FOR Action has called on the government to be more flexible in its approach to the on-farm burial ban. Chairman David Handley said the government should at least permit on-farm burial in situations when collection was not possible.

Mr Handley said he was also keen to point out to farmers that the national fallen stock collection scheme was not mandatory and that the services already in existence would still be available, albeit without the government subsidy.

FFA was concerned that many livestock producers would not be able to afford the service in three years’ time when the government subsidy came to an end, he said.
