FFA heads back to the barricades
FARMERS FOR Action has warned it will act against Dairy Crest next week (w/e June 25) because of two recent milk price drops by the processing firm.
The group‘s chairman, David Handley, has told FARMERS WEEKLY that FFA co-ordinators have all found Dairy Crest‘s milk price reductions unacceptable.
“These price drops are completely unjustified. All the other major processors have held firm. This means we‘re back on the barricades and Dairy Crest is our target,” he said.
Mr Handley added that after the recent parliamentary select committee‘s critical report about milk prices, processors had to justify any price cuts.
“We really feel we need to do something now, for if we don‘t, the other processors may follow Dairy Crest‘s lead,” he said.
