First Milk launches Scottish Pride cheese

Dairy co-op First Milk’s cheese business has resurrected the Scottish Pride brand for a new range of Cheddar cheese.
The brand, which the business inherited when the Scottish Milk Marketing board was split up, is currently used on butter but has not been seen on a cheese pack for some time. Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Somerfield have agreed to stock the “family” cheese in their Scottish stores.
A spokesman for the co-op said the launch did not detract from the firm’s key strategy of supplying added-value own-label cheese to retailers.
He said using an existing brand that researched well with Scottish consumers was much easier than launching a new product from scratch.
