Insure against milk collection delays

Dairy farmers have been urged to check they have adequate insurance against disruption to milk collections caused by extreme weather and flooding.

Dairy UK said farmers should ensure that either emergency tanks meet specifications required by milk buyers or check that their insurance policy covers them for losses caused when tankers are unable to reach the farm.

“Preparation now will avoid needless anxiety or losses when the inevitable bad weather does descend,” farmers forum chairman Roger Evans said.
