Lloyd Maunder loses contract

SAINSBURY HAS dropped one of its main fresh lamb suppliers, Devon-based Lloyd Maunder, with effect from Oct 1.
A spokesman for Lloyd Maunder said the loss of 6000t of packed lamb a year was a blow.
“But we‘ve got some very promising leads with another supermarket and buyers in Europe,” he said.
The firm‘s recent acquisition of the Dewhurst butchery chain had also opened up new opportunities.
“We’re hoping there won‘t be any effect on our suppliers at all, because we will continue to slaughter lamb as we did in the past.
“Finding new customers for carcasses and prime cuts is easier than for retail packing.”
